Comb as Nail Holder

The next time you need to hammer a nail, protect your fingers with a cheap plastic comb. The tines of the comb should keep the nail tight and steady enough for you, according to Real Simple.
You'll probably want a decent-sized comb like the one in the picture and not one of those piddly pocket combs.

Filling containers

So here I am re-tiling my moms bathroom. I need to fill a bucket with water so that I can mix the mortar, only the bucket doesn't fit in the sink. Turns out that you can use a dustpan to direct water fromt he bathroom sink into a bucket!

Nonstick Shoveling!

I live in New England and usually it's pretty snowy here in the winter. I don't yet own a snow blower and until that day that I have dreamed of for so long, I'm stuck with a snow shovel. One thing that really grinds my gears when using a snow shovel is that the snow sticks to it after a few minutes of use. Well it turns out that there is in fact a way to prevent the snow from sticking to the shovel. And I'll be honest, this is a godsend. It saves time an energy by not having my shovel half full of snow before I've even scooped any up.

Spray some Pam or other non-stick cooking spray onto the surface of the shovel before you use it! The snow just slides right off.

Stain Removal

I own a Harley so I'm no stranger to getting filthy. I've found that I can get most grease stains not only off of my hands but also out of my clothes using Gojo. Just work the stuff into the stain before you wash using HOT water and the stain comes right out.

Soda-ish

I like drinking carbonated beverages, but I don't enjoy the super sugary-ness of them. I'm also not hip to the diet sodas either. I find them to be disgusting. One cool thing I started doing was juicing fruit myself and making blended juices and then carbonating them. My favorite blend is white grape with lime. I don't have a Sodastream machine, as pictured, but I'm thinking of picking one up.

Tips for drunks!

Here's a quick one. I have learned this from the harsh mistress known as experience. If you're going to engage in a night of binge drinking, I'd recommend drinking a big glass of water before bed. However, I have found that it's difficult to remember to get a glass of water, or really to even care about it once I hit the bed.

If you're going to be drinking heavily, place a large glass of water on your nightstand or nearby BEFORE you start drinking. Tomorrow you will thank yesterday you.

Smelly sponges suck

So like pretty much everyone else I've got sponges in my kitchen. I use them for washing dishes and cleaning up the counter top. One thing that really grinds my gears is smelly sponges. I don't know if it's my water or what, but after a few uses my sponges start to smell musty. I've discovered that if I microwave my sponges for a minute or two after I use them it removes a good amount of the water and makes them odorless. I can't claim that this sanitizes them as I am not a microbiologist, but that would be my guess.
